RA Madness! (Alison Moore)

This week has been all about RA APPLICATIONS! Woo hoo! Applications were due by 9 a.m. on Wednesday, and immediately the ball was rolling. That same Wednesday night at 10 p.m. we were asked to attend a dessert night to mix and mingle with fellow applicants and then sign up for an interview time. Just two days later, it was time for Group Processing night! This night is by far my favorite part of the application/interviewing process. It's a chance to play games, make friends, be goofy, and share ideas. Ignore the fact that you're being observed like an experiment and pay no attention to the person in the corner writing notes on your behavior, and it's a great time! We were broken down into groups, within which we completed three different activities. The first one was to build a tower using only straws and paperclips. The second was to prioritize a list of several issues that very well may present themselves to an RA. And the third, to create and perform a commercial advertising CBU. These three tasks, while being fun and kind of goofy, truly stretched and demonstrated our teamwork, listening skills, and showed us all the various types of leadership there really are. As a fellow group member continuously said throughout the night, "Lets just go crazy!" I don't know what that means exactly, but we "went crazy," and we had a blast doing it. ;)
